Our Address
The original company headquarters were in "Kattrepelsbrücke" (in the Hanseatenhof), Hamburg. But the growing company soon bursted this "suit" at the seams. To reunite the external branches of the business under one roof, Marquard & Bahls moved into its property on Admiralitätstrasse 55 in 1990.
The new headquarters have a colorful history. In 1772, the Admiralitätstrasse was constructed on the site of the demolished Küterwall and named after the Admiralitätszeughaus (armoury), which was built here in 1705. The namesake, the "Admiralität," was founded as a council and was responsible for the city’s shipping. In the 18th century, the building served as an orphanage. The Hamburg Senate moved into the premises in 1842 after the great fire and used it as City Hall until 1887. The building was completely destroyed during World War II. Only the portal survived, which was incorporated into the façade of the new Job Center, recruiting workers for the Hamburg harbor until, in 1987, Marquard & Bahls purchased the building.
